Overview

The Vintage Telephone Equipment Museum, located in Seattle Washington, contains an incredible working collection of classic Central Office telephone switching systems.

Making test calls inside the museum

These machines were the heart of our telephone service during most of the twentieth century, and were installed in cities and towns all across the country.

Today, they have all but vanished -- save for the collections in this one museum.

The Telephone Pioneers at the Vintage Telephone Equipment Museum have secured one-of-a-kind working examples and carefully maintain them to this day in top operating condition.

Housed on two floors are a fully functioning Crossbar #1 office; a Crossbar #5 office; the world's only working Panel office; a step-by-step community dial office (CDO); an NT CTX-100 switch -- as well as hundreds of other unique pieces of telephone equipment.

This museum holds a unique collection of our technologic history. Built and maintained by a devoted crew of Telephone Pioneers, this is a one-of-a-kind resource, and a must-see for anyone interested in telephony.

It's easy to get to, located just minutes from the Seattle-Tacoma airport near Boeing field.
