Trotter Dump 'Diggg'

The sixth annual dig at this classic closed location. Both fluorescent & pegmatite minerals have been found!

This is actually a "trippple diggg" with access to the Trotter Dump and Buckwheat Dump (by the Franklin Mineral Museum) areas on April 23rd and the Sterling Hill Mining Museum area on April 24th. (For newcomers, "dump" means the place where mine tailings were dumped when the area had active mineral mines!) This is a rare chance to collect many fluorescent and non fluorescent species (360+ at last count, from the Franklin area alone).

There will be night collecting also allowed at Trotter on Saturday night. There are also many door prizes -- UV lamps, gift certificates and possibly more items -- with special drawings just for the kids, so they don't have to compete with the adults. You could come home with much more than a few new great specimens! You will meet many new friendly, helpful people and make many new friends!

Held the same weekend as the NJESA Million Dollar Gem & Mineral Show in Franklin, NJ.

The facilities include running water, restroom facilities, darkroom for admiring your fluorescent minerals, electricity (in the darkroom) and an off-road parking area. The "great fluorescent wall" is illuminated by several powerful UV lamps after dark, which provides an astounding and memorable view for glowhounds!

Day poundage rate is $1.00 from 9 AM to 7 PM; night poundage rate is $2.00 from 7:30 PM to 11:00 PM. (poundage fees offset the cost of excavating new digging areas on the property each year)

Participants must be either members of a liability-insured club or have personal liability insurance. Uninsured digggers can register with DVESS on-site and be covered by their club insurance.

Pre-registration for this special diggg is preferred and can be done at the website http://www.uvworld.org .
(A minimum of 100 registrations is required for the diggg to happen, so be sure to register early).
