Serpierite, a calcium copper sulfate hydroxide hydrate mineral, was first found by David Cook in 1971 and was subsequently verified by the writer on a number of specimens. It occurs as light blue microcrystals and thin light-blue films on calcite- bearing specimens of nondescript appearance and is rare. It is known from Sterling Hill, but not from Franklin.
