NiSb
Hexagonal
Breithauptite, a nickel antimonide mineral, was first reported from Franklin by Verbeek and Sutphin (1990). It was reported to occur as a rare mineral in the nickel-arsenide assemblage described under nickeline. It is not known from Sterling Hill.
As reported, Franklin breithauptite occurs as 0.1-0.04 mm blebs within pararammelsbergite and at the pararammelsbergite-nickeline contact, always in contact with pararammelsbergite, and occurs as a replacement of nickeline. It was verified by optical examination in reflected light, but has not been confirmed by X-ray or chemical-analytical methods (Verbeek and Sutphin, 1990). Breithauptite has not been studied by the writer.
