This Website contains selected chapters from Franklin and Sterling Hill, New Jersey: the worlds most magnificent mineral deposits, published in 1995 by Dr. Pete J. Dunn. This is the most comprehensive work available on these unique mineral deposits.
Included here are the introduction, bibliography, chapters on cultural aspects, geology, geochemistry, fluorescence, mineral lists, and all mineral species (chapters 1 and 7-26). As originally bound, this corresponds to much of Part II, all of Parts III & IV, and most of Part V. For a complete table of contents, highlighting what has been omitted, click here.
The work has been extensively reformatted for the Web. Efforts were made to ensure reasonable integrity of content. However, errors not present in the original may have been introduced during conversion for the Web. Also, the photographs on this site are generally less clear that those in the original print edition.
When in doubt consult the original printed work.
This Website was prepared with the express permission of Dr. Pete J. Dunn. It is intended for educational purposes only; to more widely share the wonder of Franklin-Sterling Hill minerals.

This Website is best viewed with Microsoft's Internet Explorer, version 5.5 or later. It's important to use a new browser here.
Early versions (~4.0) of Netscape's Navigator fail to display 'overbar' characters, and will incorrectly render much of the formatting used here. This site will appear poorly and/or wrongly if you insist on using an older browser (read: get a new browser).
A few (< 5) characters were not convertible to web (HTML) format. Where these appear I've inserted a 'web note', in square backets, to explain the symbol's intent.
